The most important holidays in Rota

One of the most important holidays is Christmas. Christmas in the streets are decorated with lights and trees everywhere and one of the most important is a living Bethlehem. Christmas range from December 24 until January 6. Also goes by the street on January 5, a day full of riding toys and candy to throw in the streets on behalf of the 3 Wise Kings.

Another of the festival is the carnival. The carnival people disguise up and sing songs with lyrics that can be very significant to criticize the policy or simply talk about the love of a mother with her child. The carnival lasts about 2 or 3 weeks in February.

In March or April, depending on the year changes the date, there is one weeks called the "Semana Santa" in which citizens are on the street and loaded and do penance to the figures representing the Passion of Christ.

In May is the Spring Fair. The fair people sing and dance. Women are dressed in a suit which is the typical flamenco dresses and the people who have horses can participate in contests. This event occurs in early May and lasts for 4 days.

Another of the festival is the Fair of Urta. In this fair tasting cuisine based on fish because Rota is a coastal village.

Finally, in the month of October is the patron saint festival of the Virgen Del Rosario. Are chosen to the Ladies of the town and more and the Lady is celebrated with concerts, fireworks and a cavalcade.
